Found: John Lane's 1924 Ford Model T Roadster Pickup Rediscovered after six decades, John Lane's 1924 Roadster Pickup, a symbol of early hot rod ingenuity, is set to dazzle audiences at the 2024 Grand National Roadster Show. Seeking More Information: The Knudson-Bookman 1932 Ford 3-Window Coupe 1932 Ford 3-Window Coupe owned by Wayne Knudson of Toledo, Ohio. The chopped and channeled coupe is believed to have been built by Knudson in the mid-late 1950s. The Grinager Coupe: A Detroit Icon with an Unresolved Mystery The Grinager Coupe stole the limelight at the Detroit Autorama last year. The iconic 1932 Ford 3-Window Coupe has a history filled with passion, craftsmanship, and a lingering mystery. Lost: Peter Brock's 1946 Ford Convertible - The Fordillac Embarking on a quest of automotive history, we're piecing together the missing chapters of Peter Brock's 1946 Ford Custom's narrative. This iconic vehicle has slipped through the cracks of time since Brock parted ways with it back in 1956. Lost: Tommy Henderson's 1932 Ford Tudor Sedan - The Green Machine Tommy Henderson, a Roadmates Car Club member from Caledon, Ontario, Canada, is searching for his lost 1932 Ford Hot Rod. Looking for Info: Walter Kristick's 1934 Ford 5-Window Coupe A recently discovered 1934 Ford 5-Window Coupe is currently undergoing restoration, and its owner is seeking any information about the car's history. Looking for Info: Dave Facey's 1939 Ford Coupe Do you recognize this 1939 Ford 3-Window Coupe? For years, Dave Facey of Lakeland, Florida, used to pass by the radical custom on his way to work. Found: Gil Takushi's 1954 Mercury Monterey 1954 Mercury Monterey, originally restyled by Barris Kustoms in 1956. Lost: Jim Galvin's 1949 Ford Tudor Illinois Valley Mis-Fires member Jim Galvin began restyling this 1949 Ford Custom in his backyard around 1958. Lost: Tommy Henderson's 1934 Ford Cabriolet In 1959, Tommy Henderson of Toronto, Canada, sold his channeled 1934 Ford Cabriolet to pay for a trip to Ireland. Lost: Jim Opfar's 1953 Ford Hardtop - The Glitra Have you seen the Glitra? Darryl Starbird originally restyled Jim Opfar's 1953 Ford custom for Ed Pogue in the early 1960s. Lost: Charles Ritter's 1955 Chevrolet Charles Ritter of Warren, Ohio, owned this 1955 Chevrolet custom in the early to mid-1970s. Modifications included a chopped top, 1950 Mercury back window, and 1958 Lincoln quads. Looking for Info: The Bob Wood Roadster 1930 or 1931 Ford Model A Roadster owned by Bob Wood of Dos Palos, California. The old drag roadster was unearthed in 20201 after Bob had passed away. According to Richard Noble, Bob used to campaign a GMC-powered rail back in the day, and the roadster was also raced with a GMC engine. Looking for Info: Daemon Löfman's 1957 Oldsmobile 88 This chopped and restyled 1957 Oldsmobile 88 custom found its way to Sweden around 15 years ago. The history of the car is still a mystery, but we have heard that it could be a Northern California or a Midwest build. Looking for Info: Robert Jackson's 1931 Ford Model A Coupe 1931 Ford Model A Coupe owned by Robert Jackson of Lakeport, Michigan. Robert picked the rough body of what was more likely a chopped and channeled hot rod in 2022. Lost: John Viggianelli's 1963 Ford Galaxie 1963 Ford Galaxie owned by John Viggianelli of Pacoima, California. John's Ford was nosed, decked, and shaved for much of its chrome. The dual headlights were swapped in favor of single headlights, and the stock grille was scrapped in favor of a tube grille. Lost: William "Bill" Block's 1936 Ford 3-Window Coupe - Brandy's Chariot What happened to the remains of Bill Block's 1936 Ford Custom? Unfortunately, tragedy struck some years ago, and the old Kenosha, Wisconsin Dave Puhl custom was destroyed in a fire. Looking for Info: John Corigliano's 1951 Ford Victoria John bought the Ford from Florida early in 2022. It came without any info or history, but according to John, it looks like it was originally done in the late 1950s or the early 1960s, and then later redone. Lost: Ron Volpe's 1957 Ford Convertible 1957 Ford owned by Illinois Valley Mis-Fires member Ron Volpe of La Salle, Illinois. Ron bought the Ford after selling a customized 1951 Mercury that he built while he was a senior in high school. Looking for Info: Bernie Mordawski's 1940 Mercury Convertible Unchopped and channeled! Could this really be an old Barris Kustom? William Day of New Albany, Indiana, came across this channeled 1940 Mercury Convertible back in 1971, when he was in his last year in college. Update: Shaun Miller's 1934 Ford New leads have come in on Shaun Miller's 1934 Ford survivor hot rod. Was it originally built by Tom Staback of Southington, Connecticut? Lost: Bruce McClellan’s 1956 Chevrolet In 1956, a year after he graduated from high school, Bruce McClellan bought a brand new 1956 Chevrolet. He had just landed a good job at the foundry at Pontiac Motos, so money was no problem for the kid. Found: The Bob Berkshire Roadster Thanks to Brian Bass of Bass Kustoms, it didn't take many hours from we posted the first photo of the Bob Berkshire Roadster on Instagram until the old hot rod had been located and we had been put in touch with the caretaker. Lost: The Bob Berkshire Roadster The Bob Berkshire Roadster was built by Idlers car club member Bob Berkshire of Tarzana, California. In 1944 Bob was shot down in France flying a P-51. He became a prisoner of war, and after the war ended, he came to recoup in the Los Angeles area, where he set out to build his dream car. Lost: Joe Edd Ray's 1950 Buick Sedanette - XM105 1950 Buick Sedanette owned by Joe Edd Ray of Shelbyville, Indiana. Known as the "XM105," Ray's Buick was restyled by Bob Metz. Ray was an upholsterer, and he did all the interiors for Bob. Loooking for Info: Cameron Ballanger's 1946 Ford Chopped, channeled, and sectioned. Here's an old 1946 Ford Custom that Cameron Ballanger came across in Southern California last year. Update: John Toohey's 2E-"T" Two years ago, we ran some stories on John Toohey's Lost Hot Rods. His son Fred was trying to locate his dad's old cars, and one of the builds we ran in our Lost & Found section was the 2E-T. Loooking for Info: Ray Fox's 1927 Ford Model T Roadster Buried in junk and stuff, this 1927 Ford Model T Survivor Roadster was recently discovered in Huntington Beach, California, just a block from the ocean. Lost: Tad Hirai's 1950 Ford - The Del Mar What happened to Tad Hirai's 1950 Ford Custom after Dick Falck sold it in 1959? Found: Lars Erik Ljungkvist's 1932 Ford Roadster After being lost for nearly fifty years, one of Sweden's most famous hot rods has been found in Saginaw, Michigan! Lars Eik "Junken" Ljungkvist began building this 1932 Ford Roadster in his father's garage in Stockholm, Sweden, in the early 1960s. Lost: Joe Tully's 1931 Ford Coupe Dave Tully is currently trying to trace his dad's old hot rod. Built in Dixon, Illinois, in the 1950s, Joe sold the chopped and channeled coupe around 1962, when Dave was two years old. Looking for Info: Could this really be Errol Flynn's old 1940 Mercury Custom? Squeak Bell is looking for info on a survivor 1940 Mercury Convertible Sedan that he just purchased from San Jose, California. Lost: Orin Meyer's 1932 Ford 5-Window Coupe Another old Massachusetts Hot Rod has found its way to the Kustomrama Lost & Found section. Orin Meyer first saw this coupe in Plymouth, Massachusetts, in 1957. Lost: George Smaldone's 1934 Ford 3-Window Coupe 1934 Ford 3-Window Coupe built by George Smaldone of Cranston, Rhode Island. George and his buddy Ralph Potter started building the coupe in 1954. Found: Ivan Peroff's 1956 Buick Century The Peroff's were known as Hawaii's first family of drag racing. Ivan was born into drag racing, and according to an old newspaper article, his parents, "Victor and Betty, practically cut their sons' teeth on engines." Lost: Ed Seltzer's 1929 Ford Model A Roadster In the mid-1950s, Ed Seltzer of Tarzana, California, bought a well-known 1929 Ford Model A Roadster. A channeled car originally built by Kenny Smith. A car that entered the history books when it landed the cover of Hot Rod January 1951. Looking for Info: Shaun Miller's 1934 Ford Coupe In May, Shaun Miller of Wilmot, New Hampshire, came across this East Coast survivor hot rod. He purchased it from a fellow in Plantsville, Connecticut, and it came with any info or history to go with it. Looking for Info: Dave Facey's 1940 Willys Special 1940 Willys Special owned by Dave Facey of Lakeland, Florida. Dave bought the old Sport Custom from a collector in North Florida, who had purchased the car about 10 years earlier in Texas. Rumor has it that it was built in California in the 1950s. Lost: The Kopper Kart According to rumors, the Kopper Kart was taken apart to install a Cadillac engine and never put back together again. Found: John Knox's 1953 Buick Skylark Originally restyled by John Knox of Portsmouth, Virginia, this 1953 Buick Skylark custom recently surfaced in Escondido, California. Looking for info: Ray Soff and Buddy Czyzski's 1953 Ford - Temptation Old customs were cheap in the mid-1960s. This is a 1953 Ford custom that Ray Soff and his buddy Buddy Czyzski bought for $50 in 1964-65. Looking for info: Richard Rini's 1951 Mercury Take a look at those Packard taillights. Richard Rini's 1950 Mercury is rumored to be an older California custom. How old is not known. Looking for info: Don Sealy's 1933 Chevrolet Pickup Late 1950s or early 1960s, Don Sealy of Grants Pass, Oregon, received this 1933 Chevrolet truck from a young man who stayed with him and his wife for a time. Lost: Bill Henderson's 1939 Mercury Convertible 1939 Mercury Convertible owned by Bill Henderson of Los Angeles, California. According to his grandson, Chase Henderson, Bill bought the Merc when he was 14 years old. Mystery solved: Von Hunter's 1957 Chevrolet Corvette A week ago, we added Russ Cook's 1957 Chevrolet Corvette custom to the Kustomrama Lost & Found section. A lot has happened since then, and we now know that Russ' Corvette was originally restyled by Von Hunter of Portland, Oregon. Looking for info: Mikael Blomberg's 1932 Ford Roadster 1932 Ford Roadster owned by Mikael Blomberg of Motala, Sweden. Mikael bought the roadster from a fellow known as "Indian Mike" early in 2019. The car was advertised for sale as an authentic drag car from the late 1950s or the early 1960s. Looking for info: Russ Cook's 1957 Chevrolet Corvette 1957 Chevrolet Corvette custom owned by Russ Cook of Lake Oswego, Oregon. According to Russ' grandson, and later owner, Randy Koch the car was modified back in the mid 1960s. Probably in the Portland, Oregon area. Looking for info: Tim Morton's 1940 Ford Pickup 1940 Ford Pickup owned by Tim Morton of Kingsburg, California. Morton owned the truck in 1980, and later owner Austin Thornton of Fresno, California was able to trace him thanks to an old registration that came with the car. Found: Leon Kendrick's 1932 Ford Coupe - "Wild Deuce" The Wild Deuce has been FOUND! After sharing a classified ad that Leon Kendrick ran in Hot Rod Magazine March 1964, Brandon Herlong reached out to us to bring the good news that he is the current caretaker of the historic Houston, Texas hot rod. Lost: Darryl Smith's 1960 Ford 1960 Ford Starliner owned by Darryl Smith of San Jose, California. Around 1978-79 the car was advertised for sale in San Jose. Darryl was selling the car for $1,400, and Roger Rennie missed purchasing it, as another buyer actually bought it while he was at the bank withdrawing the funds. Lost: Dick Ceola's 1930 Ford Model A Truck This 1930 Ford Model A truck was Dick Ceola's pride and joy. Dick lived in Springdale, Arkansas. He was a member of the Ozark Drifters Kar Klub, and he set out to build the truck in 1960. Found: Martin S. Papazian's Cordster A 20 year-long hunt is over, and the Cordster is now finally back in the Papazian family again. Found: George Contaoi's 1941 Mercury Coupe This long lost San Bernardino, California custom has been hidden since 1967. That was until the current caretaker retired and decided to start working on cars he bough 50 years ago. Lost: The John Toohey Hot Rods "Where are they now? John F. Toohey Sr. of Eugene, Oregon, was an enthusiastic and self-taught Northwest hot rodder that began building show cars in the mid-1960s. Passing away from a fatal heart attack in 1971, John had a short but productive career, turning out almost one hot rod a year. Looking for info: Thomas M. Tetzloff's Sports Custom "I love fixing a vehicle people give up on," Thomas M. Tetzloff told us earlier this month. A couple of weeks ago, he bought an old Sports Custom that he found near Cleveland, Ohio. Mostly based on a 1940 Ford, modifications include 1949 Cadillac taillights and a Chevrolet hood as a rear deck. "Lots of lead!" Lost: Jerry Sarkozi's 1956 Chevrolet Delray Only memories and a handful of photos are left of Jerry Sarkozi's 1956 Chevrolet Delray. Sarkozi, who was a member of the Spark Jumpers of Lincoln Park, bought the Chevy brand new in 1956. After being rear-ended in 1956, he decided to repair and restyled the car. Looking for info: Jim Dworschack's 1951 Nash Healey The lore that came with this 1951 Nash Healey custom fifteen years ago was that it had spent some time at the Rattle Snake Raceway dirt track in the panhandle area of Texas. Current caretaker Jim Dworschack believes it was restyled in the mid to late 1950s. Found: Les Mullen's 1956 Chevrolet Corvette - Dominique Some of you might recognize this 1956 Chevrolet Corvette custom from the cover of Rodding and Re-styling August 1962 or Speed Mechanic June 1962. It was restyled by Les Mullen of Miami, Florida, in the early 1960s. Lost: Bob Kovaly's 1931 Ford Model A Coupe This 1931 Ford Model A Coupe was Bob Kovaly's high school ride in 1962. He grew up in Clifton, New Jersey, where he used to see the older guy's on his street work on and hop up their cars. Mike Brodski started building the coupe back in 1957 or 1958. Looking for Info: Joe and Jerry Valdez's 1921 Ford Model T Roadster After nearly 40 years in storage, this fully chromed T-bucket ended up being pushed outside earlier this year. The owner had passed away. His son had sold the house with the car in the garage, and the new owner had no interest in it. Luckily Austin Thornton came to the rescue. Looking for Info: Dave Paul's 1955 Chevrolet Convertible This 1955 Chevrolet custom has been in Tim Paul's family for 40+ years. His dad, who is no longer with us, bought the car in Denver, Colorado in 1974. Modifications included a Candy Apple Red paint job, split bumpers, stacked quad headlights, and DeSoto taillights. Looking for Info: Raymond Patricco's 1934 Ford Roadster They are still out there! Panels. Fogging. Pinstriping. This custom painted 1934 Ford survivor was just dragged out of storage in Whitehouse, New Jersey. We're helping the current caretakers trace the history of the car. Maybe you can help us? Update: Max Magness' 1932 Ford Cabriolet The original builder of Pascal Bandelier's 1932 Ford survivor has finally been traced. Thanks to Les Gray we now know that the car was built by Max Magness, a hot rodder from Grandfalls, a small dry town in Ward County, Texas, in the late 1950s. Looking for Info: Art Lehner's 1932 Ford 3-Window Coupe - The Blue Indigo In 1986 Terry Stoker of Ontario, California bought a Kandy Tangerine 1932 Ford 3-Window Coupe from a fellow in Chino. While stripping the old hot rod for paint, old blue Metalflake paint was discovered, giving away clues about the car's rich history. Lost: Mel Gerrard's 1950 Oldsmobile 88 1950 Oldsmobile 88 restyled by Gil's Auto Body Works for Mel Gerrard of Whittier, California. Mel's Oldsmobile is a nice example of a mid-1950s moderately customized car. At the Ayala Brothers, the hood and deck-lid were shaved for most of its ornamentation, and an electric deck lid latch was installed. Looking for info: Bill Leslie's 1960 Ford Thunderbird - The Golden Gem 1960 Ford Thunderbird owned and restyled by Bill Leslie of Buffalo, New York. The car is also known as "The Golden Gem." According to the later owner Douglas Sills, the story he got when he bought it was that Bill's parents originally owned the car; "The car was built in New York and all the paperwork has New York addresses." Lost: Gerald Zielinski's 1955 Chevrolet 1955 Chevrolet hardtop owned and restyled by Gerald Zielinski of St. Louis, Missouri. Gerald was a member of the Road Angels of St. Louis, and it was his mom and dad that originally bought the car in 1955. Gerald took ownership of the car sometime after that and started customizing it. Looking for info: Thomas Dannerbauer's 1929 Ford Thomas Dannerbauer of Bayern, Germany recently purchased an old Hot Rod from Lodi, California. Little of the history is known about Tom's roadster. It shows traces of several stages of being hot rodder throughout the years. It has been parked since the 1980's and the known history is long gone. Looking for Info: The New York Mystery Sport Custom US built Sport Custom, currently located in Italy. The car was purchased in New York in the late 1980s or early 1990s. The buyer found it for sale on Hemmings, and all he remembers about the guy he got it off was that he was a physician in the Syracuse, New York area. Looking for Info: Don Ellis' 1955 Ford Thunderbird Dennis Bradford's 1955 Ford Thunderbird custom was featured in the June 1959 issue of Rod & Custom Magazine. The story was named "Trimmed with Taste," and the author of the story compared the appearance of the car with the appearance of a limited production vehicle such as the Facel Vega. Lost: Dean Jeffries' 1947 Mercury In 1957 Dean Jeffries sold his heavily decorated 1947 Mercury convertible to Jerry Halak of Toledo, Ohio. A year later Halak sold it to Larry Nadrasik. Nadrasik later moved to England, and rumor has it that he brought the Merc along. Looking for Info: Eldon E. Schmidt's 1929 Ford 1929 Ford Model A roadster owned by Eldon E.Schmidt of Garden Grove, California. Eldon bought the car in 1960. It came with holes in the body after a rollbar and safety-belts, indicating that it had been raced on the dragstrip. Looking for Info: Pascal Bandelier's 1932 Ford Cabriolet Calling Texas! We need your help identifying this survivor 1932 Ford. Currently owned by Cheaters car club member Pascal Bandelier of Geneva, Switzerland, the car has roots back to Texas where it was dragged out of a barn sometime around 2002. Update: 1962 Ford Cougar 406 Great news everyone! We just received another lead in our hunt for the lost 1962 Ford Cougar 406. The Cougar 406 is a concept car built by Dean Jeffries for Ford Motor Company. We first ran the Cougar in our Lost & Found Section back in 2016, after receiving an email from Mike Nottingham of Richmond, Indiana. Looking for Info: Mike Fasulo's 1936 Ford Club Cabriolet Mike Fasulo's 1936 Ford Club Cabriolet is one of the Early Styled Customs that have signed up for the 5th annual Kustomrama Custom by the Sea car show in Wildwood, New Jersey. Mike bought the old custom as a non-running project last year. He believes it was built back in the 1950s, but his research ends at the Hersey Swap Meet back in the 1980s or the 1990s, where it was bought by New England drag racer Buddy George. Looking for Info: Allan Fielding's 1932 Ford 5-Window Coupe 1932 Ford 5-Window Coupe owned by Allan Fielding of Burriville, Rhode Island. Allan traded a 1951 Oldsmobile for the coupe around 1955. It had already been hot rodded when Allan got it, and the coupe ran a channeled 1932 Ford chassis. The driveline was missing. In January of 2018 Eli English of Traditional Speed and Custom in Pittsfield, New Hampshire bought the car. When Eli bought it, it had not seen the light of day for 50 years. Lost: Warren Dorrill's 1949 Ford 1949 Ford Club Coupe owned and restyled by Warren Dorrill of Gallup, New Mexico. Built over a span of two years, the car is also known as "The Shark." According to rumors, Warren's Shark is still around, and last we heard it was located in Tennessee. Warren's family are currently trying to locate the old family custom, and if possible buy it back. Lost: Ken McGoldrick's 1939 Chevrolet Coupe Marshall Tripp worked for Larry Watson at Watson's House of Style between 1966 and 1967. At the time, Ken McGoldrick was the manager in the shop. Kenny drove an in-progress 1939 Chevrolet custom that had been fitted with hydraulic lifts up front. Marshall never got to see Ken's car finished, and he is currently trying to locate Kenny and the Chevy. Rumor has it that Kenny moved to the Midwest about 5 years ago. Looking for Info: Justin Hocking's 1951 Ford In 2015 the mildly restyled Ford found its way to Australia. Dressed up with Barris Kustoms badges it came with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by George Barris. In 2015 George attended a car show in Sydney where the Ford was at, and George told current owner Danny Canal that he remembered the car and the works carried out on it. Since then the car has been sold to Justin Hocking of Melbourne. Lost: Gerald Twamley's 1954 Chevrolet We are very excited to announce that we finally have been able to trace Gerald Twamley's 1954 Chevrolet Custom to Colorado. Gerald was a member of the Long Beach Renegades car club, and he cruised the streets of Artesia in a Branson's Custom Shop restyled Chevy. Looking for Info: Augustus Eberman's 1941 Chevrolet Coupe This shortened, channeled and sectioned 1941 Chevrolet Coupe was owned and restyled by Augustus Eberman of Geneva, Wisconsin. Augustus worked as a development engineer for Oscar Meyer, and the Coupe is believed to have been designed by Brooks Stevens, who also designed the original Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. In October of 2016, Dan Tonielli bought the sporty coupe from an estate auction. Lost: Reno Garcia's 1947 Buick Sedanet 1949 Ford Club Coupe owned and restyled by Warren Dorrill of Gallup, New Mexico. Built over a span of two years, the car is also known as "The Shark". According to rumors, Warren's Shark is still around, and last we heard it was located in Tennessee. Warren's family are currently trying to locate the old family custom, and if possible buy it back. Looking for Info: Mark Garza's 1940 Ford Convertible Who can help us identify this Mystery 1940 Ford Custom? Mark Garza of Nipomo, California bought the old custom from Arroyo Grande in 2015. Unfortunately, the seller, who bought it in Detroit, Michigan in 2008, had no knowledge about the history of the car. Can you help us? Looking for Info: The Spartanburg Mystery Sport Custom This is a 1941 Hudson-based Sports Custom that Niklas Lekman came across in Spartanburg, South Carolina. According to rumors, the car was originally built in California in the late 1950s! Do you recognize it? Lost: Norman Kopp's 1932 Chevrolet Coupe Norman Kopp's 1932 Chevrolet Coupe of Beloit, Wisconsin was originally owned and built by Norman's brother. The first running completion was in 1958, then the build was completed three years later. In 1964 Norman sold the coupe. He can't remember who he sold it to, or where it went, but for some reason, he believes it went to someone in Illinois. Lost: Norman Kopp's 1932 Chevrolet Two Door Sedan Have you seen this 1932 Chevrolet two door sedan lately? Norman Kopp is trying to locate his old high school hot rod. Norman bought the Chevy back in 1957, when he was a sophmore. He lived in Beloit, Wisconsin, and he was a member of the Road Gents of Beloit car club. Under the direction of his brother, Norman installed a 1952 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 engine, transmission, rear end and steering gear in the car. In 1962 he... Lost: Harry Hoskin's 1955 Chevrolet Harry Hoskins' 1955 Chevrolet was originally restyled by Barris Kustoms in the 1950s. Being a mild custom, the top on the car was supposedly chopped in the late 1950s to win top honors at a San Diego car show. In 1962 Jack Fox bought the car from a relative of Hoskins. Jack used the car as his daily driver for two years, before selling it off in 1964. Jack lived to regret selling the car, and a while back he got in touch with Kustomrama to see if we could help him trace his old custom.n! Glen's racer was constructed using various Ford-components, and the young kid from San Fernando, California won the Main Event that day. Looking for Info: Charles Marshall's 1950 Cadillac Roadster Back in 2000, when Charles Marshall, of Palo Alto, California, bought this sporty 1950 Cadillac roadster in Los Angeles, he was told that the car was supposedly built in New Jersey in the 1960s. Found: Vincent E. Gardner's 1947 Studebaker - The Gardner Special The Gardner Special was designed and built by famed automobile designer Vincent E. Gardner of South Bend, Indiana. Vince, who worked under Raymond Loewy at the time, bought a brand new 1947 Studebaker Champion that he based his Sportster build on. Luckily, the car is still around, and Vintage Motorsports and Arrigo Specialty Metalworks are currently restoring the Sportster back to its initial version. Found: 1952 Spohn Palos Last year, before we started the Lost and Found section on Kustomrama, we wrote about Wayne Graefen, who was looking for the Vlk Family Custom in one of our Kustomrama Newsletters. Wayne, who first saw the unique coachbuilt Spohn car as a kid in 1957, has spent 54 years of his life hunting for the car. July 8, 2011, he found it, and four days later, he had become the proud owner of his life-long dream car. Lost: Jack Nethercutt's 1952 Oldsmobile Holiday 98 Jack Nethercutt, the President of the Nethercutt Collection, is currently looking for the whereabouts of his old Barris Kustoms restyled 1952 Oldsmobile. The car has not been seen for years, so any leads are appreciated. Found: Bill Hines' Lil Bat In May 2011, the remains of the original Lil Bat by Bill Hines were advertised for sale on Craigslist. Bill sold the car in the early 1960s, and as the new owner wanted his own version of the Lil Bat, Bill restyled the car beyond recognition. The build was never completed, and the car sat outside in the Michigan wilderness for several years. The car was luckily sold to a genuine enthusiast, and we look forward to see what he does with this survivor. Looking for Info: Paul Schneck's 1955 Ford 1955 Ford custom owned by Paul Schneck of Anoka, Minnesota. Paul bought the old custom from a friend in 2007. Paul's friend got the car to update it for a customer with new running gear.

Lost: The 1962 Ford Cougar 406
In the early 1970s Mike Nottingham flew from Richmond, Indiana to Southern California to take a look at the Dean Jeffries built 1962 Ford Cougar 406 concept car. The gull-winged two-seater was advertised for sale in Hemmings, and Mike was interested in buying it. The car was in a rough condition from sitting outside for quite a while, so Mike decided to fly back home empty handed. Mike never saw or heard more about the whereabouts of the car again...

Looking for Info: Kevin Hertfelder's Sport Custom
In 2010 Kevin Hertfelder of Orange County bought the remains of an old Sport Custom. It was said to come from the Mid-West, but Kevin believes it has been around Southern California for a good portion of its life. Kevin is not sure what it started out as, but the best he can tell from the body and the steering wheel is that it started out as 1940 Nash, which was built into a two-seater.

Found: Joe Wilhelm's Wild Dream
Joe Wilhelm's Wild Dream was never really lost, but original owner John Hernandez has kept it a hidden secret for the last 50 years. In June of 2017 John sold the car to Jeff Cimoli. Jeff told us that he heard about it trough a friend; "A friend of mine knew John's nephew. My friend didn't want it, so he told me about it, and I jumped on it." When Jeff bought the car it had been in storage for 50 years. John had been playing with it off and on, and even brought it out of storage for a show in 1999.

Found: Kenny Isaak's 1965 Pontiac Bonneville
Kenny Isaak's 1965 Pontiac Bonneville was restyled by Tom Chafin in 1967. Tom moved from Steubenville, Ohio to South Gate, California sometime around 1964. After building an award winning 1963 Buick Riviera Tom landed a job at Barris Kustoms in Hollywood. We thought the Bonneville, Tom's second build, was long gone, until recent photos of it surfaced in March of 2017.

Lost: Don Holland's 1941 Ford Convertible - The 1941 Don Holland Special
Don Holland's 1941 Ford convertible was restyled by Gil's Auto Body Works sometime between 1948 and 1951. In 1951 it gained national recognition when it was featured in Trend Book 101 Custom Cars. About the same time Don sold the car, and the family lost track of it. Don has passed away, but his family is currently looking for the whereabouts of the car.

Found: Dan and Ken Hiramoto's 1941 Buick Century Convertible - Raven
Last week we ran a Featured Story on Dan and Ken Hiramoto's 1941 Buick convertible on Kustomrama. Dan sold the car, known as the Raven, in 1962. Since then the family lost track of it, and last they heard it had been rolled and totaled. The rumor was unconfirmed, but everyone thought it was gone. A couple of days after the story was published rumors about its whereabouts started to appear, and thanks to Joe Koenigsmark we have now located the old Cleveland custom. Lost: Richard Piscatelli's 1954 Mercury
Fred Williams grew up in West Haven, Connecticut. While he was growing up, there were several Bernardo Bros customs cruising around his hometown. His favorite was Richard Piscatelli's 1954 Mercury, a cover car from Customs Illustrated September 1960. Richard sold the car to Robert L. Fabbri around 1962. Robert kept and drove the custom for a few years before I sold it to a young kid when he started college around 1966. Click here for more information and photos

Found: Richard Gregg's 1950 Ford Pickup - The Capri
In June of 2016 Richard Gregg's 1950 Ford pickup, known as "The Capri", was found in San Ramon, California. The car had been in storage for 40 years plus, and it was buried in mud when Tony Gomes of San Ramon, California bought it. The car was originally built by Richard Gregg of Sacramento, California in the late 1950s, and it received a lot of magazine ink when it was completed. Tony, who runs Tri -Valley Auto Glass plans to restore the car back to how it looked when it was first done. Click here for more information and photos

Found: Ed Roth's 1956 Ford F-100
Another long lost Ed Roth custom has resurfaced and is back in the spotlight again. Ed bought this F-100 truck in 1957. He gave it a flame paint job and used it as advertising for his business. He sold the car in the late 1950s, and it ended up as a farm truck in Oklahoma. It was never licensed in Oklahoma, and spent most of its time around the farm. The car has now returned to California, and it is scheduled for a restored debut at the 2017 Grand National Roadster Show. Click here for more information and photos

Lost: Frank Layman's 1948 Packard Convertible
In the early 1950s Frank Layman ran a body shop in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania named Frank's Garage. Frank specialized in custom car building, and one of his creations was a 1948 Packard convertible that he restyled for his own pleasure in 1953. The car was sold some years later, and Frank's son, Bill, is currently trying to find out what happened to his fathers old custom.

Looking for Info: Delwyn Triska’s 1936 Ford 5-Window Coupe
In 2015 Micke Hedberg of Borlänge, Sweden bought Delwyn Triska’s 1936 Ford 5-Window coupe. Delwyn bought the car in 1948 or 1949, and he had it restyled shortly thereafter. At the time he was living in Kagel Canyon, California. In 2013 Dewlyn passed away, and much of the history of the car went down into the grave with him, such as the name of the Long Beach customizer that chopped the top on the car.

Ralph Tyrone Scarfo's 1950 Oldsmobile 88 hardtop was supposedly restyled in San Diego, California in the mid 1960s. In 2011 Ralph Tyrone Scarfo of North Bergen, New Jersey bought it from Southern California. The seller had only owned it for a year at the time, and he told Ralph that he had bought it from a friend of his who found it in a barn after about a 40 years hibernation.

Looking for Info: Mark Mundorff's 1959 Ford Thunderbird - Avancier
In 1967, Mark Mundorff of Lincoln, Nebraska bought a 1959 Ford Thunderbird from a dealer in Omaha. Powered by a Lincoln 430 engine and a 3-speed overdrive transmission, the race-ready Thunderbird had already been customized when Mark bought it, and the name "Avancier" was hand lettered on the driver's side sun visor. Mark still owns the car, and he has spent the last 10 years trying to find out more about it's mysterious past.

In 1960, Eddie Dominguez of El Paso, Texas bought an already customized 1939 Mercury convertible from a local kid. According to rumors the car was an old custom that came from the San Diego area. 48 years later the car was advertised for sale at the Los Angeles Roadster Show. An older fellow who saw it at the show told the seller that a buddy of him had bought the Merc brand new from a Long Beach Mercury dealer.

When did you last see a 1940 Mercury coupe with a 1955 Chevrolet grille? Virginia custom car enthusiast Roddy Moore is currently trying lo locate Virgil Shuck's 1940 Mercury custom. Built in Pineville, West Virginia in the late 1950s, the car wound up in a junkyard in Christiansburg, Virginia, before it was sold to Ohio in the 1970s or the 1980s.

JP Randall has been looking for an old Milwaukee, Wisconsin custom for over 40 years. The car, named "the Kandy Apple Kart", is a 1955 Ford owned by Roven Chariots member Dick Nielsen. Dick was a Manager of a Badger Paint Store in Milwaukees Southgate Shopping Mall. JP saw it when he was 13 years old, and the car has been haunting him ever since. Looking for Info: San Jose P-38 Belly Tank Lakester
Ed Godshalk of Newberg, Oregon is in the progress of restoring an old P-38 Belly Tank lakester. Ed's belly tank was discovered by Lou Parvesi in a body shop in San Jose, California in the 1970s. It has holes in it for the larger flathead V8. The paint is very old, and it has mounting holes for a windshield and a head rest/roll bar. It has correct exhaust pipe holes and axle cut-outs, so it seems likely that it was once mounted on a car. Click here for more information

Matt Marquisee sent me photos of a heavily chopped and partly customized 1939 Ford four-door he spotted in Lake Elsinore, California. It was sitting in a fenced enclosure, and it is hard to see if it is a new or an older build. There was a weathered "For Sale" sign on the fence, with no additional information. The heavily chopped sedan looks like a stranded project. It has an unique headlight treatment, and it looks like the original builder had visioned the car with some sorts of bumperettes. Found: Unknown Colorado Junkyard Sport Custom
Unknown Sport Custom located at a junkyard outside Colorado Springs, Colorado. Chris Savaglio and a buddy came across the car, and they told Kustomrama that it was hard to tell what it had started out as. The front of the car features dual canted headlights, indicating that it could have been built, or upgraded, in the late 1950s or the 1960s. The rear of the car features a low trunk, giving the car huge fins. A cut down bumper is placed between the fins. Click here for more information

Lost: George McLaughlin's Roadster
In the 1940s George McLaughlin of Yakima, Washington built himself a sport custom from salvaged parts. A low-slung body, featuring an enormous grille, was fabricated over an old Ford chassis. Power came from a Ford flathead V8 engine. In the early 1950s George moved to Richland, bringing the roadster along. It was sold locally in the 1960s or early 1970s, and since then George's family has lost track of it. If anyone know what happened to George's roadster we would love to hear from you. This sharp looking 1932 Ford tudor sedan calls Sweden it's home. When Klas and Fredrik Wallin bought it in 2013, it came from Colorado, United States. The seller told them that it originally had been chopped and hot rodded back in 1957. Rumor had it that the car was once owned and driven by Dean Moon, but that is a rumor we can't confirm. 1940 Fords were very popular to restyle in Southern California in the mid 1950s. When former USC engineering student Dick Colarossi of Glendale, California decided to customize his coupe, he turned to Neil Emory and Clayton Jensen at Valley Custom Shop. The result was breathtaking, and Dick's coupe copped a 1st place in its class at the 1954 Motorama. He sold the coupe in 1957, and has lost track of the old custom. Lost: Jack Smario's 1957 Ford
Jack Smario's 1957 Ford 2-door hardtop was restyled by Gene Winfield at Winfield's Custom Shop sometime between 1957 and 1959. Jack, who hauled from Pittsburg, California, had Gene modify the front end by tunneling and frenching the headlights, and by installing a bullet grille. It was painted in black lacquer with gold fogged scallops. Jack died in 1976, and his family have lost track of the old custom. If anyone knows what happened to it we will love to hear from you. Lost: Merton Peterson's 1950 Ford
In 1953 Carroll "Red Eye" Gentry of Styler's Custom Shop restyled a 1950 Ford for Merton Peterson of San Diego, California. Gentry built the car from verbal instructions given by Pete, who demanded a 5 inch section job, a Ferrari type grille, pancaked hood, and radiused wheel openings. Pete sold the Ford, partially in a trade, to Tony Curtis of Glendale, California on August 9, 1956. Pete's family doesn't know what happened to the car after that, and they are currently trying to locate their dad's old custom. Click here for more information

Lost: Jack Telnack's 1941 Mercury
Back in 1954, Bob Ashlock of Detroit, Michigan helped his buddy Jack Telnack section and channel his 1941 Mercury, to make it look more like a European influenced 1941 Lincoln Continental. When the build was completed in 1955, Jay took off to California in order to attend the Art Center Design School. The car was sold there, and Jay went on to become head designer at Ford Motor Company. Bob is currently looking for the whereabouts of the Merc they built? Have you seen it? Lost: Kenneth Kamp's Otter
The Otter is a fiberglass bodied two-seater built by Kenneth Kamp of Norwood, Ohio. When Chevrolet came with their fiberglass bodied Corvette, Ken decided that he wanted to get ahead of the market and produce a fiberglass bodied car too. 9 Otters were built. Found: Brad and Gale Bez' 1948 Buick Roadmaster Roadster
Another old sport custom has surfaced! Brad and Gale Bez' 1948 Buick Roadmaster roadster was located in Milwaukee some years back. It was then moved to the Chicago area where it was damaged in a garage fire. In 2009 it was purchased by a St. Louis Buick collector. Brad and Gale Bez recently bought the one-off custom from the St. Louis Buick collector, and they plan to restore it back to how it once appeared. Found: Charles McDonald's 1955 Ford
Charles McDonald's 1955 Ford Thunderbird was restyled by Don Roberts of Bear's Custom Body Shop after he moved his shop to Inglewood in the late 1950s. According to rumors, Don customized more first generation Thunderbirds than anyone else in the Los Angeles area, so it is good to finally see one surface. Charles McDonald's Thunderbird can in fact be the only know surviving Don Roberts custom car.

Back in the late 1950s Ron Fagundes' 1952 Ford Victoria was featured in several magazines as a rare "East Meets West" custom. Ron was from Napa, California, and his car featured custom work by four different East and West Coast shops and builders such as Barris Kustoms and Andy Southard. Ron traded his custom for a 1960 Ford Thunderbird at a car dealership in Long Island, New York in 1960. The Beach Comber was a 1936 Ford convertible owned and restyled by Bearing Busters of Berwyn car club member Rich Vachata. The first version was completed in 1959. In 1960 the car received a scallop paint job by fellow club member Dave Puhl. Rich sold the car to his buddy Bob Borvansky around 1970. He upgraded the look of the car before he decided to sell it. The Cordster was a custom roadster designed and owned by Martin S. Papazian of Worcester, Massachusetts. Martin’s objective in building the Cordster was to produce a “Sports Custom” family car. The build was completed in 1953. In 1960 it was sold out of the Papazian family, and all traces of it ends at the Sunset Trading Post in Sunset, Texas in 1978. A couple of weeks ago we ran a story on Daniel A. Fox's 1950 Studebaker custom. The car was originally restyled in the early 1950s, and Daniel was looking for more information on the car as the name of the original builder and owner was unknown. Thanks to a story published in The Knickerboxer News February 13, 1952 we now know that the Studebaker was originally restyled by R. K. Body Works for Carl Szembrot Jr., of Albany, New York. Found: George Barris' 1956 Continental Mark II
In 1956 George Barris, of Barris Kustoms fame, bought a brand new 1956 Continental Mark II that he restyled. George wanted something easy to drive, and the Lincoln was lowered an inch and repainted with 25 coats of Pearlscent Rust before it was fit with a padded white top that featured landau irons. In january of 2014 a similar Continental, rumored to be George's old car was advertised for sale on eBay.Click here to read more

When Trend Book 105 Restyle Your Car hit the newsstands in 1952 it featured a photo of the rear end of a 1950 Studebaker that someone had given a treatment similar to the 1951 GM LeSabre concept car. The story did not mention the name of the owner or the builder. The remains of this old custom has now finally surfaced, and it's current owner Danie A. In the early 1980s Red McCormick of East Hartford, Connecticut bought an old customized 1955 Chevrolet from Durham, Connecticut. Red sold it to Barry Atkins, who restored it and restyled it further. Today the car is owned by Marc M. of WIttmann, Arizona. Rumor has it that the car was first restyled in 1958, and Marc is currently trying to find out who the original owner and builder was. Found: John Sak's Third 1941 Ford Convertible - Barbie
Back in 2011 we added John Sak's Third 1941 Ford Convertible, Barbie, to the Kustomrama Lost and Found section. John, who built the car between 1957 and 1960, ended up selling it in the 1970s. Being a 1941 Ford fan, he soon regret that he had sold Barbie. After spending nearly 40 years trying to locate it he turned to Kustomrama for help. It took almost 2 years, but in September of 2013 we finally found Barbie.

Found: Gary Heliker's 1926 Ford Model T Roadster
In 2010 we ran a featured story on Gary Heliker's 1926 Ford Model T Roadster. Back then nobody knew where the car was, or if it was still around. Even Gary Heliker mailed us to inform that he hadn't seen or heard the car since he sold it in the 1960s. Mike McHenry of Apple Valley, California knew all the time, because he bought the car in 1997. In September of 2013 Mike wrote Kustomrama to share the news.

Lost: Doc Albers' 1949 Ford
In the early 1960s, Robert "Doc" Albers of Lakewood, Ohio got a sectioned 1949 Ford from his dad. The car was originally restyled by Milton Depuy of Cleveland, Ohio around 1956, and when Doc got it, it had no motor. Doc got the old custom back on the road again, and he drove it for a while in black primer before he sold it to Russell Standish in 1964. Since then it has disappeared, and Doc is now looking high and low for his old car.

In 2012 Josh Haagen of Bangor, Maine bought an old custom built Buick boattail roadster that had been left abandoned behind a building. He was told that the car was originally built in Berwick, Maine. Josh, who is a body shop guy, believes the car was once completed, run on the road, and disassembled for a restoration that never happened. Josh is currently looking for info on his car. Lost: Harold Agresti's 1951 Cadillac Series 62 Coupe
Harold Agresti's 1951 Cadillac Series 62 Coupe was restyled in the San Francisco Bay Area around 1956/1957. The look of the car was upgraded by installing a 1954 Cadillac front clip. It was then nosed, decked and shaved for handles. Harold Agresti of Turlock, California bought the car in 1958. After selling the car locally, the Cadillac was eventually sold off to Arizona in the early 1960s. Do anyone know anything about the whereabouts of Harold's Cadillac?

Lost: Jack Nethercutt's 1952 Oldsmobile
Some new leads on the Jack Nethercutt's 1952 Oldsmobile has come up, as San Jose Rod and Wheelers member Lenny Macchiarella claims he saw the car advertised for sale in the Auto Trader in 2000. It was still located in El Cajon, and it had been painted white. Lenny tried to buy it, but it was already sold. Anyone else remember seing a 4 inches chopped 1952 Oldsmobile in the El Cajon area about 12 years ago?

Lost: John Sak's 1941 Ford Convertible
In 1958 John Sak of Syracuse, New York set off to restyle his 1941 Ford Convertible. Main modifications included a chopped top, reworked front, molded fenders and custom upholstery. The build was completed in time for the 1960 Syracuse Autorama where John wan a first place trophy with his build. He sold the car in the 1970s. It was restored again in 1983, and finally sold to a guy in New Jersey. John would really like to buy his old car back, and he is currently looking for its whereabouts.

In 1964, John and Rebecca Hackler bought their first car, a customized 1958 Chevrolet Impala, in the Monterey Bay area in California. The car was advertised for sale at a used car lot, and the seller told John and Rebecca that the car had been restyled by non other than Bill Cushenbery. Does anyone recognize this Impala? Is it a real Cushenbery custom? And where is it now?
