Tom Hunt's 1934 Ford roadster of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Tom was a friend of Honest Charley, and he worked for him after-school, helping him fill mail orders. The build was started in 1948 and completed in 1949. Total build time was 15 months.
Walter Kristick's 1934 Ford 5-Window Coupe of Grensboro, North Carolina. Rumored to be a 1960s hot rod,the car can be traced back to a purchase in Tennesse around 2014. Before Kristick bought it, the previous owner had started and abandoned a restoration.
The Eugene Von Arx Special of California. Built in 1940 by Bungholers of Hollywood member Eugene Von Arx Jr., the Eugene Von Arx Special is a rare prewar custom roadster that fused dry lakes performance with high-end coachbuilding. Designed and hand-formed by Eugene's father, an alum of the Walter M. Murphy Company and Don Lee Coachworks, the body featured Art Deco styling, 1937 Chevrolet and 1937 Oldsmobile lighting, and a split DuVall windshield. The chassis was crafted by Frank Kurtis using twin 1939 Chevrolet frames, and the car was powered by a rare Riley OHV-equipped Ford flathead V8. It recorded a 114.4 MPH run at El Mirage in May 1942. In August 2025, this early piece of California hot rod history returned to the spotlight, offered at Mecum's Monterey Auction. Unfortunately, not much is known about the car’s history between 1940 and its recent rediscovery. The consigner purchased the Von Arx Special out of Tennessee in a very sorry state and undertook a full restoration to return it to its original specifications. The intervening years remain murky, leaving a mysterious gap in the timeline of this one-off custom.
