San Pedro Road Kings
One of the biggest car clubs in San Pedro in the 1950s were the Road Kings. In an interview with Justin Kudolla, Ron Guidry of the Long Beach Renegades said that if you ever parked a car with the plaque of another club in San Pedro chances were big that the car would be sitting on frame stands when you returned. They would steal your wheels, bumpers, basically anything they could get off the car. Ron also remembered in the same interview that the Road Kings' president and a couple of members once came to a Renegades meeting and said that the Renegades were welcome in San Pedro. Just remember to put your Renegades plaque on your car because the word is out that nobody touches a Renegades car on their turf.
Road Kings CC Atlanta
The Atlanta Road Kings formed in 1999 as a result of a love of old cars and a close friendship between three gearheads. We are and always have been a group of friends first and foremost and a car club second. We don't have an open enrollment and there is no application. Our meetings are usually done around an engine hoist or tool bench while helping one another on our projects.
With a desire to have a car show in the Southeast that didn't cater to the Street Rod, Trailer Queen, or Muscle Car scene, the Road Kings hosted an impromptu and nameless show at the 1999 Drive-Invasion that in 2000 became known as Dixie Fried. The first of it's kind in the East to have a pre-65 only registration that was limited to driven, traditional styled hot rods, customs, and stockers. Top that off with our often imitated hand made awards and one-two punch of bands and b movies of Drive-Invasion and a winner was born.
