Mike Sparrow's 1956 Chevrolet
1956 Chevrolet Corvette restyled by Gene Winfield of Winfield's Custom Shop for Mike Sparrow of Castro Valley, California. Up front the grille shell was extended several inches and fit with three rows of chromed bullets. Four Corvette bumperettes were used for protection. The rear fenders were reworked and extended eight inches, giving the fenders a new contour. Nerf bars were integrated into the lower side of the rear fenders. The nerf bars consisted of chromed steel frames that held thin Lucite taillight lenses. The deck lid was shaved, and a molded license bracket held the plate on the rolled rear pan. Wire wheels, side exhaust and a special roof scoop was added. Once the bodywork was done the car was painted in a Lime gold lacquer. Jerry Sahagon of Hayward stitched a white Naugahyde interior for the car.[1]
