Kalle Brøderud of Oslo, Norway. In the Summer of 1964 Kalle and his cousin Ludvig Bjørnstad were out riding their bike-cycles. They stopped by the Narvesen kiosk on Carl Berner in Oslo to check out some magazines. Amongst the many Norwegian and Swedish lady and gentlemen magazines they spot a copy of Hot Rod Magazine August 1964. The colorful cover featured a photo of a dragster. Kalle was 16 years old at the time, and he really liked what he saw. He bought the magazine, and rode his bike over to someone that could help him translate some of the text. Kalle and Ludvig were sold, and they both decided that they wanted a dragster.
In the spring of 1968 Start & Speed Magazine started to advertise for a dragrace event called "First Go" in Anderstorp, Sweden. Kalle saw the ad, and decided to go to Sweden with his girlfriend to watch the race. When Kalle arrived at First Go he was surprised to see a Norwegian racer amongst the Swedes, as there was a guy from Norway drag racing a motorcycle. According to rumors, the unknown Norwegian supposedly set a world record in his class that day.Kalle returns enthusiastic to Norway to tell all of his friends about the the awesome race.
