Start & Speed Magazine

From Kustomrama
Jump to: navigation, search

Start & Speed, subtitled Motoring Enthusiast’s Magazine, was a Swedish periodical for motor enthusiasts. The title emerged as a continuation of an earlier magazine called Start, which had been published in 1964 and the first half of 1965. According to the magazine’s own editorial note, changes in circumstances meant the original publication could not continue in its planned form. However, the team felt the name “Start” was too good to abandon.[1]

Origins and Name

In an anecdote printed in Start & Speed Nr. 1 1966, the writer explains that the new name was conceived during a flight from Helsinki to Gothenburg. After finishing his breakfast tea, he began sketching ideas on a napkin—writing “START… START…”—which led to the combined title “Start & Speed.”[1]
