Joe Moreno's 1949 Buick
1949 Buick convertible owned by Joe Moreno of Wrightwood, California. In 1996 the car was shown at the Grand National Roadster Show.
Sold to Phil Macey
Phil Macey of Portland, Oregon met Joe Moreno in the mid 1990s while attending the Pomona Swap Meet. In 2017 Phil told Kustomrama that he tried to buy another car from him; "A 1946 Ford chopped Carson Top convertible. A beautiful car, but I didn’t step up quick enough, and it went to another California collector. The Buick was a consolation prize purchase. I never saw the car in person but bought it from a video tape as the car was on tour in Europe. I bought the car from Joe and he delivered it to Oregon. I bought his trailer and show display with the intention of showing the car in the local Oregon area. It was the featured billboard car in the biggest local show, Portland Roadster Show in 1996. While at the car show an old class mate from high school fell in love with the car and insisted in buying it after the show was over. This is where the story starts its disastrous chain of events leading to total destruction by fire and unexplained circumstances."[1]
