Bob Lewis' 1949 Chevrolet
1949 Chevrolet Fleetline restyled by Toigo's for Bob Lewis of San Diego, California. The car was given a 1955 Chevrolet grille and frenched 1952 Ford headlights. Side trim pieces from a 1955 Buick were used to separate the Burgundy and White lacquer. The center of the Fiesta hubcaps repeated the red shade used on the body. 1947 Buick taillights were frenched in to the rear valence. Functional air scoops were grafted into the rear fenders in order to cool down the brakes. Expanded metal was used in the air scoops. It was also used around the antenna mount on the front fender. The car was lowered 8 inches all around with dearched springs in the rear and an A-frame extension kit up front. Skirts were cut-down 1955 Oldsmobile pieces. Hillcrest Top Shop upholstered the car in Raspberry and White Naugahyde. San Diego Pinstriper Charles Bodge striped the car inside and out.
