The New England Hot Rod and Kustom Historical Society Photo Collection

This '41 Ford Convertible belonged to Ray Whitney, President of the Road Gents CC out of Wallingford, Connecticut. The car ran a 3" drop axle up front and the frame was Z ironed in the rear. It was nosed, decked and all the seams were filled. The headlights were frenched and a 1948 Cadillac grill was reworked in favor of the stock one. Dig that Carson top! The hopped up flathead was good for 110 mph! This photo was taken at the 1958 Hot Rod & Custom Car World's Fair in Springfield Massachusetts. ​This 1953 Oldsmobile is the Maki Special built by brothers Bruno and Reino Maki of Fitchburg, Massachusetts. The photo was taken at the Glenwood Service Station on Capitol Ave. in Hartford, Connecticut. The service station was the "Official Hartford Autorama Service Station". Hank Fournier's 1936 Ford at the 1958 Hot Rod & Custom Car World's Fair in Springfield Massachusetts. The car was chopped 3 1/2", sectioned 5, channeled and the frame was Z'd. All of this work was done by Hank in the carport alongside of his house around 1950. The hood scoop is off of an F900 ford truck. The story behind that is Hank forgot to check if the hood cleared the carb with an air cleaner which it didn't! His father came home with the f900 scoop they cut it in and the carb and air cleaner fit perfectly into the scoop! Photo courtesy of The New England Hot Rod and Kustom Historical Society.
