Toronto filmmaker Ron Mann is producing and directing a wild hybrid animation/documentary about Ed "Big Daddy" Roth . Roth passed away in 2001, not long after Mann began his movie. Just like the upcoming Pixar movie "Cars", the Tales of the Rat Fink is also a scripted movie where the cars are talking.

According to Mann, "the cast reads like a Tsunami benefit.Roth's legendary Surfite is backed up by Beach Boys Brian Wilson's vocal. Elvis's old flame Ann-Margret plays a hot heartbreaker. Paul LeMat reprises his role from American Graffiti playing a yellow '32 Cruiser. Jay Leno is Flamethrower, a '55 Chevy who recalls the golden age of custom cars. Matt Groening (The Simpsons) plays Finkster, a custom PT Cruiser who discusses Roth's influence on the culture — where would Bart Simpson be without the Rat Fink, I ask you?" Oldtimer Alex Xydias also appears in the movie along with The Smothers Brothers and Billy Gibbons.

The movie is in post-production, preparing for its world premiere on March 11th, 2006 at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas.
