Salt Flats

Salt Flats are vast, naturally flat expanses of hardened salt, ideal for high-speed racing due to their smooth surface and open space. The most famous is the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, which became the world’s premier land speed racing venue after WWII. Unlike dry lake beds, salt flats allow for longer, faster runs, perfect for setting records. Hot rodders, streamliner builders, and speed freaks from around the globe have traveled to Bonneville in search of the elusive perfect run. For many, racing on the salt is the ultimate test of engineering, courage, and tradition.
