Fred Rowe's 1951 Mercury Convertible, of Los Angeles, California was restyled by Barris Kustoms. The build was completed in 1953. A second version of the Merc, restyled in 1954 was featured in the movie Running Wild.

Running Wild is a Universal-International picture movie starring William Campbell, Mamie Van Doreen, and Keenan Wynn. Several Barris Kustoms cars were used in the movie. Rental on these cars paid by the studio was from $25 to $50 per day, depending on the car and how much it was to be used.
