Pierre Paul's 1941 Buick
1941 Buick Special built by Pierre Paul, of Oakland, California. The overall height of this car was 56 inches. This was made possible by a 3 1/2 inch body channeling, and a 3 1/2 inch top chop. The padded top was made by C. A. Hall at Hall Upholstery. Pierre fit the car with a 1948 Cadillac grille and a 1941 Cadillac front bumper. The hood was shaved, reshaped and shortened 5 inches. The door handles were shaved as well, and the doors were operated by electric push-buttons. The trunk was hydraulically operated. In the rear, Pierre installed a sunken license plate and recessed 1939 Pontiac lights. The car was also restyled with dual spotlights and fender skirts.[1] Wheels and hubcaps were from a 1947 Cadillac. The exterior was done in Acme Flame Red lacquer and the interior was done in matching red and white lacquer.[2]
In 1949 Pierre's Buick was shown at an indoor car show in Oakland, California. The show involved into what became the National Roadster Show. Pierre's Buick was also shown at the first National Roadster Show in 1950.[3]
