Mike Maurice's 1985 Oldsmobile
1985 Oldsmobile Delta 88 owned by Silhouettes and Reapers car club member Mike Maurice of Oxford, Maine. Named "Blue Suede 88," the Olds was Mike's first custom, and he began the build when he was 14 years old. Mike has been into traditional customs and hot rods since he was old enough to walk, and his Olds is probably the only one that has been restyled in a traditional 1950s custom theme. In 2012 Mike told Kustomrama that he gave the car a Larry Watson influenced panel paint job. Other modifications included a 1960 Chevrolet Bel-Air steering wheel, 1959 Cadillac taillights, 1956 Oldsmobile Fiesta style hubcaps, spotlights and lakes pipes. A custom made backup panel was made for the Cadillac taillights. It was also fit with a 1983 Oldsmobile 98 trunk lid, and a 1982 Oldsmobile 98 nose. It was pinstriped by "Chip" from Poland, Maine. All work, except for the pinstriping was done by Mike. As he didn't have a spray gun at the time, the car was painted with spray cans. The build was completed in 2011, when Mike was 19 years old.[1]
