John Hychko
John Hychko of Waterbury, Connecticut ran and operated a custom body shop named Valley Auto Body. The shop closed around 1988.[1]
In 2018, East Coast custom car historian Ray Soff told Sondre Kvipt of Kustomrama that Hychko's cars, including The Polynesian, were still sitting outside in a field next to the closed body shop.[1]
Ray, who first recorded a conversation with Hychko in 1996, questioned whether Hychko actually built his cars himself. 'I don't think he built cars. I think he was the owner. He had the guys build the cars who worked for him and his body shop,' Ray told Kustomrama.[1]
As of 2018, Hychko was still alive but confined to a wheelchair. He could not walk due to bad knees and was unable to have the operation because doctors said he would not survive it.[1]
