Hennig Auto Paint & Body Repair
Hennig Auto Paint & Body Repair of Anaheim, California. Hennig's shop was a complete auto body and fender shop.
In the mid 1960s Paul J. Gonzales left his job as Supervisor at the Earl Scheib Auto Paint Company to work for Louis Hennig Auto and Truck Painting. "Hennig owned a large production shop in Anaheim right across the freeway from Disneyland," Paul told Sondre Kvipt of Kustomrama in 2015. Paul believes Bill Carter came to run their custom shop in the early 1970s. "We had three production lines and, the custom shop where Bill was the partner. We had a large truck spray booth also." At the time, the shop had four or five body men and a total staff of about 50 to 60 people. "Bill came to work for us when he was young and we knew he would move on. I think he painted the Rolls Royce that sat in front of the House of Wax in Buena Park Gold Metalflake. He actually did shaded enamel paint jobs. One day we actually took in 110 cars for paint and body. I left the business in 1978 but have a lot of fond memories."[1]
Marshall Tripp managed Hennig's shop for four years, starting in 1978, and in 2019 he told Sondre Kvipt of Kustomrama that Carter had left by the time he started.[2]
