Gene Thurman's 1934 Ford

A photo of Gene's coupe taken at El Mirage Dry Lake in October of 1951. Gene and his buddy Bob Herzog served in the Air Force in Korea at the time, but they were on leave when this photo was taken. During the event, Gene ran a 1/4" stroked flathead 59A engine that belonged to Bob. The coupe ran 119 MPH with Bob's engine. 1934 Ford 5-Window Coupe owned by Drag-Ons car club member Gene Thurman. Gene's coupe was chopped and channeled. In October of 1951, the coupe ran 119 MPH at the El Mirage Dry Lake. At the time, Gene ran a 1/4" stroked flathead 59A engine that belonged to fellow club member Bob Herzog. Both Gene and Bob served in the Air Force in Korea at the time.[1]
