Early Customizers
Early Customizers were the pioneers who laid the foundation for the [[[custom car movement]] in the 1930s and 1940s. Working out of small garages and body shops, often with limited tools but limitless imagination, they began modifying mass-produced cars to reflect personal style and elegance. Influenced by European coachbuilt cars and Art Deco design, these craftsmen introduced techniques like chopping tops, sectioning bodies, and smoothing body lines. Notable early customizers include Harry Westergard, Jimmy Summers, and George DuVall. Their work helped define the clean, flowing look that would come to symbolize traditional custom cars.
