1954 Mercury Convertible owned by Butch Johnson. Butch's mild customized Merc was nosed, decked and shaved for door handles to give it a cleaner and smoother appearance. The air scoop on the hood was made functional and the trim surrounding the scoop was molded to the hood. The upper grille bar was molded to the fenders and hood and the headlights were frenched by using its stock rings. Dual spotlights were added, giving the windshield a chopped look. The huge medalion usually located on the front fender trim strip was removed, this helped clean up the side while 1956 Cadillac wheel discs and a rear-seat tonneau cover all did their part toward gaining better lines. The stock taillight lenses were used, but in a customized manner. 1/2" round rod was formed around the 1954 Mercury taillights. The car was made even more interesting with pin-striping by Dean Jeffries.[1]
