Bob Goodman's 1937 Ford
1937 Ford 5-Window Coupe owned and built by Bob Goodman of Alameda, California. Bob spent one year to complete all engine and body work on his goldenrod coupe. The car was powered by a 252 cui Ford Flathead fully equipped with an Iskendrian camshaft, J. E. pistons, Navarro 10:1 heads, Harman & Collins magneto and a Navarro manifold sporting three Stromberg 97 carburetors. Direct return of the water pipes were installed and secured good cooling for the over-warmed mill. The big gear shift was hooked to a 1937 LaSalle transmission. The simple interior featured a kill switch, fuel shut-off and a fire extinguisher, all within an easy reach. The car was fit with a center steering from an Essex. Bruce racing slicks on Palamides magnesium wheels secured good traction in the rear while grooved racing tires were fit up front.[1]
