Billy F. Gibbons' 1948 Cadillac
1948 Cadillac Series 62 Sedanette owned by Billy F. Gibbons of Houston, Texas. Named "Cadzzilla," the name of the car consists of three words: Cadillac, ZZ Top and Godzilla.

Gibbons Vision
Gibbons vision with the build was to create a custom car that reflected the classic 1950s era, combined with the technology of the late 1980s. As the late Gray Baskerville wrote, in Hot Rod Magazine, "Billy wanted a four-wheel reflection of the group's music, that's now using '50s technologies, combined with current recording techniques, to produce a richer sound.[1]
Design by Larry Erickson
After Billy came up with the name for the car, he went to Cadillac designer Larry Erickson for a design propsal. Erickson realized that Gibbon wanted a 1950s custom that could be raced at Bonneville.[1]
Built by Boyd Coddington Hot Rod Shop
A rust-free donor car was found in Arizona. The donor car was then brought to Boyd Coddington and his crew at Boyd Coddington Hot Rod Shop in Stanton, California. Craig Naff translated Erickson's renderings into sheet metal at Boyd's shop.[1]
Completed in 1989
The build was completed in 1989. It toured with the ZZ Top and made many appearances.[1]
Hot Rod Magazine Cover Car
The Cadzzilla landed the cover of Hot Rod Magazine. The story by Gray Baskerville stated that "the car could be the one hot rod that sets the tempo and the standard of excellence in the 90's."[1]
