Bill DeCarr's 1941 Mercury
1941 Mercury Business Coupe restyled by Barris Kustoms for Bill DeCarr. The Merc featured a 4 inch chopped top and full Fadeaway Fenders. The car was nosed and decked. The side moldings and handles were shaved, it was operated by solenoids buttons. The rear end was smoothed and new taillights were inserted in the rear bumper guards. The gas filler door was welded shut and removed inside the trunk. Fenderskirts were also added. Up front, the grille was replaced by a 1948 Oldsmobile unit. The headlights were frenched. The stock bumpers were replaced. Bill wanted his car low, so in order to give it the right stance the body was channeled 5 inches. Dual spotlights and Cadillac Sombreros were added. Once the bodywork was done, the Merc was painted dark maroon. The car was later repainted green, fit with new taillights, different bumpers and a new grille. By 1951, the car was owned by Dick Hansen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.[1]
