Adam Woodhams' 1959 Buick
1959 Buick LeSabre owned and restyled by Adam Woodhams of Adam's Rotors in San Jose, California. In 2016 Adam told Kustomrama that the build was already started when he bought it, "..but it wasn't done all that great!" The entire drivetrain had been replaced with a more modern chassis and drivetrain from a 1976 Buick Electra. The new drivetrain featured a 455 Buick BB V8 engine, a Turbo 400 transmission, a 3.73 rear end, power steering, and power disc brakes up front. The frame was c-notched, and it featured airbags on all four corners. James at Beacusebags in San Jose went over the suspension, and basically re-bagged the car. All lines and wires were updated, and two tanks were added. The management was also replaced and fit with a height-sensor based system, supposedly one of the first in the states by Masoair.
The body had some flaws, so Adam decided to shave a few more parts, before the car was painted Metallic cobalt blue by Linh at Garageworks. Lil Daddy Roth crystal beth and flip-flop flake were mixed into the clear coat for a sparkling effect. Body modifications included a shaved hood and deck lid, shaved door handles, mirrors, emblems, antenna, drip rail trim, fender trim and side valence trim. The wipers and front turn signals were also removed for a clean appearance. The rear bumper pan was smoothed, and chromed bullets were installed on the taillights. Up front, the bumper was dropped 4 inches and a custom tube grille was installed along with custom pearlescent Wagner sealed beam headlights. Adam also installed a under carriage accent lighting. When Adam bought the car, TP Customs had already metalflaked and paneled the roof and dash. Adam had "The Lone Wolf" painted on the windshield. The lettering was done by DGNFYD.
The interior was gutted when Adam got the car. "I designed the new one from the ground up, working hand-in-hand with my upholster Chava for over a month. It was a huge project, with many months of brainstorming design ideas and material sourcing." The car was fit with a full custom pleated and diamond stitched interior. 5 colors of Zodiac sparkle were used on the dash, firewall, tunnel, headliner, rear deck lid, floor mat, door panels, armrests, seats, trunk, and fender liners. A marine grade sapphire carpet was used to cover the floors. A custom blue flaked steering wheel was installed along with 1960 Buick interior door handles. The dome light and sun visors were removed before Adam installed a green shaded front windshield glass and clear rear and side glass. The car was dressed up with custom built 15x6 chrome artillery wheels from Wheels Vintiques that Adam installed stainless stepped beauty rings and staggered bullet caps on, and BFG radial white wall tires; "I dreamt up the wheels one night and after many calls, delays and hiccups they were done. It's a very unique offset and with the combo of accessories, I doubt it has ever been done, let alone on a Bellfower." The build was completed in 2015. After completing the build, Adam decided to have Colby Racing rebuild the drivetrain.
