Shaved Trim
Shaved Trim is a custom modification where exterior elements like door handles, emblems, nameplates, and moldings are removed to create a smoother, cleaner look. Popularized in the 1940s and 1950s, shaving was one of the first steps in transforming a factory car into a custom. Builders would weld and fill the holes left behind, then smooth the panels for a seamless finish. Combined with nosing, decking, and frenched lights, shaved trim helped emphasize a car’s body lines and gave it a sleeker, more refined appearance—hallmarks of traditional custom styling.
