Janne "Benjamin" Wahlström was one of the most active hotrodders in Sweden in the 1960s.

Rumors say that Janne got the nickname "Benjamin" because he had a broken leg (ben in Swedish) while building the car, "Ben-Janne" became "Benjamin."
In fact, he later officially changed his name to Benjamin instead of Jan.

Janne's very beautiful unchopped '32 was first equipped with a flathead, but he changed to a very potent Chevy 327 with a hirise manifold, Holley 3310 carb and a 310° mechanical cam producing 375 hp!

It performed very well on the dragstrip with E.T. 13.5 sec. and 150 km/h speed. He raced both in Sweden (Anderstorp) and England (Santa Pod).

Initially painted red, then blue metallic by Rolf Ingersjö. Rader wheels. Upholstery in black vinyl by Alfa Bilklädsel in Stockholm.

The car was first shown at Hot Rod Show April 1967 Marmorhallarna.


Benjamin brought his 5-window coupe over to race at Santa Pod for the July 1971 Internationals.

In February 1972 he brought it over to England again for the Custom Car Show at Crystal Palace, London.

He then sold it to Keith Harvie who resprayed it red and changed the wheels. Keith then sold it to Kevin Pilling in 1975 who repainted it again, two-tone brown.

The car is still in England and as far as we know is now owned by Keith Abrehart.[2]
