John Foxley's 1952 Chevrolet
1952 Chevrolet restyled by John Foxley John Foxley Rod & Custom Design in Maple Ridge, BC, Canada. The car, Johnny's first full custom, is also known as the Jade Rival. Johnny sectioned his Chevy 6 inches. The roof was chopped 5.5" in the front and 6.25" in the rear. A 1949 Oldsmobile hardtop windshield was used; it's 3" shorter than the stock piece. A floorpan and chassis from a 1978 Chevrolet Malibu wagon was modified to fit the Chevy and vice versa. The car had to be shortened 6" behind the doors in order to fit the new floorpan. The new chassis was given the full air ride treatment. Johnny cut the roof off and shortened the body 6 inches, before he welded the roof back on again. In the front the car was restyled using a 425 cat camshaft out of a highway truck as a grille bar. Inside the car a 1955 Chevrolet dashboard was adapted. [1]
Once the bodywork was done, the car was painted by Gene Winfield in September 2009. Gene applied his signature full candy paint style job on the car. The car was painted candy green over lime gold. Gene sprayed it for 16 hours, only taking a half hour break.
January 2010 The Jade Rival attended the 61th Grand National Roadster Show where it won George Barris Kustom D’Elegance Award.[2]
