At the age of 16, Gianpy chanced upon this Plymouth one summer evening in his hometown of Lugano. The connection was immediate, but it took him 22 years to finally own the car he fell in love with at first sight. Back then, the car was in its original state, equipped with a 318 Poly engine, a 3-speed manual transmission on the column, and devoid of any added accessories. Gianpy is a hot rod and custom car builder. He runs his own shop, and his journey with the Plymouth has seen various transformations over the years. The first significant change was repainting the car in black. Photo courtesy of Gian Paolo Tagliatti.
A later version of the Plymouth adorned with candy blue flames, a creative addition by Blaster, a dear friend of Tagliatti. Photo courtesy of Gian Paolo Tagliatti.
Life events, including a divorce, prompted Tagliatti to give the Plymouth another visual transformation, this time opting for a traditional Watson-inspired panel paint job. Photo courtesy of Gian Paolo Tagliatti.
For Gian, the Plymouth is more than just a car. It has been his companion on European adventures, a testament to his resilience and love for automotive art, and an integral part of his family for over 22 years. In his words, "Mopar rules!" This Plymouth stands as a symbol of his dedication, passion, and the ever-evolving journey of life. Photo courtesy of Gian Paolo Tagliatti.

Custom Modifications

Gianpy is a hot rod and custom car builder. He runs his own shop, and his journey with the Plymouth has seen various transformations over the years. The first significant change was repainting the car in black. It was then adorned with candy blue flames, a creative addition by Blaster, a dear friend of Tagliatti.[1]

As time passed, the original engine, transmission, and rear axle were replaced. A rebuilt 318 engine from a 1970 Dodge was installed and paired with an automatic transmission and a 9-inch rear axle from Ford with a 2.77 gear. This combination proved perfect for long freeway rides across Europe.[1]

Life events, including a divorce, prompted Tagliatti to give the Plymouth another visual transformation around 2010, this time opting for a traditional Watson-inspired panel paint job. For Gian, the Plymouth is more than just a car. It has been his companion on European adventures, a testament to his resilience and love for automotive art, and an integral part of his family for over 22 years. In his words, "Mopar rules!" This Plymouth stands as a symbol of his dedication, passion, and the ever-evolving journey of life.[1]
