The Little Deuce Coupe appearing at the 2026 Grand National Roadster Show after its five-year re-restoration, completed in 2025. The project was initiated by Curt Catallo to make the car more period-accurate, and was guided by Michigan-based hot rod builder Cory Taulbert. The chassis was rebuilt, including un-boxing the frame to return it to its 1961 configuration. Mike Alexander Jr. at Metalcrafters handled body repairs with assistance from Chip Foose. Darryl Hollenbeck at Vintage Color Studio sprayed the blue finish, matched to the original paint applied by Junior Conway at Barris Kustoms in 1960. Chrome was done by Advanced Plating, and Sid Chavers recreated the white vinyl button-tufted upholstery. Unpublished Eric Rickman photographs from the original Hot Rod Magazine photo shoot were used as reference throughout the project. The re-restored coupe debuted at the Gathering at the Roc in Oklahoma in the fall of 2025. Photo by Ken Davis.

The 76th Annual Grand National Roadster Show was held January 30 – February 1, 2026, at the Fairplex in Pomona, California, sponsored by O’Reilly Auto Parts. Originally known as the Oakland Roadster Show, it remains the longest-running indoor car show in the world.

More than 500 show vehicles competed inside the Fairplex buildings for top honors, while an additional 800+ vehicles joined the outdoor Grand Daddy Drive-In throughout the weekend. The event once again proved why it is one of the most influential indoor car shows in the United States.

The show presented the prestigious America's Most Beautiful Roadster (AMBR) Award, widely regarded as the most coveted trophy in the custom car building hobby. The highly respected Al Slonaker Memorial Award was also awarded, recognizing outstanding craftsmanship and innovation.

With classic customs, street rods, lowriders, rat rods, and traditional hot rods on display, the 2026 Grand National Roadster Show continued California’s legacy as the epicenter of American custom car culture.
