Featured Events - Custom Car Revival

The 2025 Custom Car Revival was a three-day automotive event dedicated exclusively to traditionally styled custom cars, held June 5–7, 2025 in Indianapolis, United States. The event marked the 13th year of the Custom Car Revival and continued its focus on mid-20th-century American custom car styling.

History

The Custom Car Revival was founded in 2013 as a one-day event dedicated to traditional customs. Due to growing interest and participation, it expanded into a multi-day weekend format beginning in 2014. Earlier editions of the show were held at retro-themed locations, including a 1950s-style drive-in restaurant, before evolving into a larger hotel-based event format.

By 2025, the Revival had developed into a full-scale three-day gathering with both grass and asphalt parking areas, accommodating participants and spectators in a centralized venue environment.

Event Format and Eligibility

The 2025 Custom Car Revival was limited to 200 vehicles, selected on a first-come basis. All participating vehicles were required to adhere to a traditional custom aesthetic consistent with American custom car practices from the Harry Westergard era through the Larry Watson period. The organizers defined eligibility as vehicles that could plausibly have emerged from the custom shops of early pioneers such as George Barris, Gene Winfield, or Joe Bailon. Obvious modern modifications, including oversized wheels and contemporary styling elements, were not permitted.

2025 Highlights

The 2025 edition featured a notable concentration of historically significant vehicles. Among the attendees were fourteen customs previously featured in The Rodder's Journal, as well as twelve historically important custom cars originally built by or associated with major custom shops, including:

Participation reflected the event’s national and international reach, with vehicles arriving from more than 35 U.S. states, spanning from New York and Florida to California and Colorado, as well as multiple entries from Canada.

Awards

Awards at the 2025 Custom Car Revival were determined by participant voting. The event’s top honor, America's Most Beautiful Custom, was awarded to Jimmy Hervatin's 1951 Ford F1 Pickup.

Additional awards presented included:

Other category-based participant awards

Notable Attendees
