The 1961 Custom Car Spectacular was held in San Juan, Puerto Rico. A big ship brought cars from New York City to Puerto Rico.

The 1961 Custom Car Spectacular in San Juan ended in disaster. The show was promoted by Jerry Anolik, who according to Ray Soff ran away to California with the money before paying for the return shipping of the cars. The vehicles were stored in a warehouse in New York City because the shipping company would not release them without payment. The car owners had to pay for their own return shipping. Several cars were damaged in the process.[1]

Harry Bradley took slides of cars being unloaded from the ship after the show, documenting the damage.[1]
